NBC Brings Back Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous with Nick Cannon

Nick Cannon

Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous was, perhaps, the first introduction for the rest of us “Normal” people into the world of the exclusive and high-end lives of the, well, rich and famous. It was first introduction to fast cars, big houses and the truly extravagant purchases by those with bank accounts big enough. This was the show that came out before MTV introduced “Cribs” and we got to see the whips and fridge interiors (and so clean and organized they were) of the wealthy.

The show has been gone for a long time – forgotten about, it seems. Robin Leach was the host, with his perfectly posh voice, and it’s been more than 20 years since we’ve seen him showing off the fortunes and fabulous lives of others. Fortunately for us who are so deprived of seeing how the other half live without things like reality television and social media to allow them to show off their own belongings, the show is coming back to television. Sorry, Robin Leach is not included.

This time, Nick Cannon will be the host. Of course, we’ve heard this song before. It was just last year that the Style Network announced the revival and Cannon’s name and then became Esquire Network and put an end to the revival. This time, however, NBC is taking the reigns and they’re not stopping. And it should be entertaining.

“Robin Leach passed the torch to me, now I’m producing and hosting the new Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. You know what? I think rich and famous people take themselves too seriously. I’m gonna be just like I am on this show (America’s Got Talent). I’ll be like, what the hell? Gold Toilet Seats?! Let’s pop bottles,” he said the first time the revival was announced. We hope he means that.
